    Question

I want to do a time lapse of a sunset and
was looking for a few tips on how to do it.
My first idea is just to switch my exposure
to manual but I am wondering whether the
sun will still be too bright?

If that is the case what type of filter should
I consider? Since I want to do this as cheap
as possible I'm thinking of rigging some sort
of homemade gel filter. I have a decent supply
gels and know a good arts and crafts store that
sells a good variety of coloured plastic that I
    could jury rig.

I shot some great sunset time lapse stuff on my 814e autozoom using the auto exposure. I put on a polarizing filter as it was setting over the sea and I wanted to cut down on any nasty reflections.
